Meet the T&G Hometeam high school boys' lacrosse Super Team for spring 2024

13 hours agoThe Central Mass. High School Sports Awards is proud to announce the player of the year nominees for boys' lacrosse. The winners were announced during the live show that took place June 26 at the Hanover Theatre.
The Central Mass. High School Sports Awards show is part of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards, the largest high school sports recognition program in the country.
Player of the Year
Matt Lemay
St. John’s, Senior, Midfielder
With 36 goals and 10 assists, Lemay led his team in points and helped the Pioneers reach the Division 1 state tournament round of 16. Lemay had a 32.7 shooting percentage, and he was a Catholic Conference all-star. Rallying to beat Algonquin Regional late in the season was Lemay’s most memorable moment of the season. He scored four goals to lead the comeback. Lemay was a T&G Super Team selection for golf in 2022. In the fall, he will attend St. Anselm College, where he will study business and play lacrosse. He is the son of Katie and Michael Lemay of Westminster.
Gage Carroll
Littleton, Senior, Goalie
Carroll helped the Tigers to an appearance in the Division 4 state tournament. Carroll posted a 7.39 goals against average and recorded his 500th career save, which was his most memorable moment of the season. Playing for the Littleton lacrosse “family” was another highlight for Carroll. He was a team captain and helped Littleton to a record of 9-11. He is the son of Lisa and Keith Carroll of Littleton.
Anthony DelNegro
Wachusett, Senior, Attack
DelNegro scored 54 goals and added 16 assists to lead Mid-Wach A in scoring and rank among the top scorers in Central Mass. He helped the Mountaineers to a 12-6 record and the No. 19 seed in the Division 1 state tournament. Scoring seven goals in a win over Nashoba Regional was one of his most memorable moments of the season. Scoring the winning goal, his fifth of the game, with less than 20 seconds left to beat Agawam was another highlight, as was seeing the continued growth of the Wachusett program. In the fall, DelNegro will attend Florida Gulf Coast University, where he will study law enforcement. He is the son of Vicki and Joseph DelNegro of Sterling.
Nate Gulachenski
Algonquin, Senior, Goalie
Gulachenski, a repeat T&G Super Team selection, helped lead the Titans to the Central Mass. Class A Tournament title and the first round of the Division 2 state tournament. Beating Wachusett Regional, 11-9, in the Class A final was his most memorable moment of the season. Gulachenski, a team captain, posted a save percentage of 64% and earned Mid-Wach A first-team all-star honors. Gulachenski was MVP of his team. He posted his first career shutout with a 14-save performance against Shrewsbury. In the fall, he will attend St. Michael’s College, where he will play lacrosse. He is undecided on a major. He is the son of Liz and Al Gulachenski of Southborough.
Dillon Kelleher
Nashoba, Senior, Attack
Kelleher earned his third straight T&G Super Team honor after leading Nashoba to its first state quarterfinal appearance. He scored 64 goals and added 39 assists, and he finished his outstanding career as Nashoba’s all-time leader in assists (196) and points (359). Kelleher also holds the single-season program record for assists (88) and the single-game mark for assists (11). This year, he led the team in shooting percentage (45%). Kelleher scored five goals to help lead the Wolves to a victory over Apponequet in the Division 3 round of 16. He was a two-year captain. Also a member of the ice hockey team, Kelleher’s most memorable moment of his senior year was organizing, with his brother, a “Hockey Fights Cancer” game in February to honor their mother, who is a colon cancer survivor. The game will be an annual Nashoba event. Kelleher was member of the MIAA Advisory Committee. In the fall, he will attend the University of Tampa, where he will study markets and hopes to walk on to the lacrosse team. He is the son of Donna and Todd Kelleher of Bolton.
Quinn MacLean
Nashoba, Senior, Defense
MacLean set a program single-season record with 53 caused turnovers and helped lead the Wolves to their first state tournament quarterfinal appearance, which was his most memorable moment of the season. Nashoba defeated Apponequet in the Division 3 round of 16 to reach the quarters. MacLean, a two-year captain, added 48 ground balls, 3 goals and 9 assists. He was the Mid-Wach A MVP. MacLean finished as Nashoba’s career leader in caused turnovers with 123. In the fall, he will attend UMass-Boston. He is the son of Corrie and Ian MacLean of Stow.
Luc Masse
Advanced Math & Science Academy, Senior, Midfielder
Masse earned his second T&G Super Team honor of the year, after garnering accolades for hockey in the winter. He set AMSA single-season records for goals (65) and points (86) and led the Eagles to the second round of the Division 4 state tournament. He was team captain and MVP. His most memorable moment of the season was scoring back-to-back goals in AMSA’s loss to Nipmuc Regional in the Central Mass. Class B Tournament final. In the fall, he will attend the University of Colorado, where he will study engineering. He is the son of Karen and Scott Masse of Hudson.
Jackson Mastroianni
Blackstone Valley Tech, Senior, Attack
Mastroianni scored 59 goals and added 48 assists to lead the Colonial Athletic League and help the Beavers to a 13-6-0 record and the Division 4 state tournament round of 16. He finished his career with 214 goals and 127 assists and as BVT’s all-time points leader. Recording his 300th career point was his most memorable moment of the season. He was a two-year captain. In the fall, Mastroianni will attend the University of New Hampshire, where he will study business/finance. He is the son of Shannon and Mark Mastroianni of Whitinsville.
Cam Michaud
Grafton, Senior, Attack
Michaud earned his second consecutive T&G Super Team honor after scoring 38 points and adding 13 assists. Michaud helped the Gators earn the No. 23 seed in the Division 2 state tournament. Beating St. John’s, 8-7, in overtime was Michaud’s most memorable moment of the season. He was a team captain. In the fall, he will attend St. Anselm College, where he will study criminal justice. He is the son of Lisa and Justin Michaud of Millbury.
Jake O’Brien
Tyngsborough, Junior, Midfielder
O’Brien scored 40 goals and added 21 assists to rank second on his team in scoring and help the Tigers to a 15-4 record and an appearance in the Division 4 state tournament. O’Brien won 60% of his faceoffs. A team captain, he earned Mid-Wach C all-star honors for the second time, and was his league and team MVP. Winning a faceoff with 7 seconds left against North Middlesex and assisting on the tying goal, and going on to beat the Patriots in overtime was O’Brien’s most memorable moment of the season. He is the son of Sandra and Ed O’Brien of Tyngsborough.
Aaron Ricketts
St. John’s, Senior, Goalie
Ricketts repeated as a T&G Super Team honoree after helping the Pioneers reach the Division 1 state tournament round of 16. He posted a 6.53 goals against average and earned Catholic Conference all-star accolades for the third time. Beating Shrewsbury, 15-2, on Senior Night was Ricketts’ most memorable moment of the season. He was a two-year captain. In the fall, Ricketts will attend Bentley University, where he will study finance and play lacrosse. He is the son of Benita and Robert Ricketts of Stow.
Jack Julius Schartner
Nashoba, Senior, Attack
Schartner earned his second consecutive T&G Super Team honor after scoring 65 goal and adding 31 goals and helping to lead the Wolves to their first state tournament quarterfinal appearance. The Wolves fell to Scituate, but the game was one of Schartner’s most memorable moments of the season. He scored five goals in Nashoba’s Division 3 round of 16 win over Apponequet. Scoring his 200th career goal and notching his 300th career point in a win against Wachusett Regional was another highlight of Schartner’s season. He finished his career as Nashoba’s all-time leader in goals (220) and second in points (330). He was a team captain. In the fall, Schartner will attend UMass-Boston, where he will study criminal justice. He is the son of Kristen and Eric Schartner of Bolton.
