A popular travel influencer lost her life in a tragic accident this week. On July 16, 27-year-old social media creator Aanvi Kamdar was filming a video at the Kumbhe waterfall in India when she reportedly lost her footing and fell into a deep gorge.
A rescuer told The Economic Times that Kamdaar "fell on the hard, slippery patch of rocks around 300 feet into the valley and couldn't be spotted initially. She was sent up using a stretcher attached to rappelling ropes. Six rescuers climbed down the hill, while another 50 assisted atop the hillock."
Kamdar was responsive immediately following the six-hour rescue operation and put on a ventilator but later died at Mangaon Taluka Government Hospital.
Kamdar, who worked as an accountant, was traveling with a group of seven friends at the time of the accident. She has over 300,000 followers on Instagram, where her bio described her as a "detective for travel, luxury finds, cafés, itineraries, tips & feels."
After the news of her death, some commenters criticized her for risking her life to create content, but others came to her defense during such a tragic time.

"She was an extremely responsible traveller. It was an accident, could’ve happened to anyone," wrote food influencer Shreya Sanghvi .
"It was an accident . A very very unfortunate one at that. We all loved her. She was an exceptional human being, so true to herself and to the world and truly blessed us by showcasing such talent and passion," wrote vegetarian/vegan recipe creator Vidhi Doshi .
As People reported, Kamdar's death occurred just a few months after fitness influencer Giorgi “Tzane” Janelidze died when she slipped from a balcony and fell into a ravine in Calabria, Italy.
