The Falcons will open up training camp on Wednesday as rookies and veterans will report to Flowery Branch and the Raheem Morris era will be officially underway as preparations for the 2024 season will begin.

Morris, who was an assistant coach and later interim head coach all from 2015 to 2020, will be looking to lead the Falcons to their first winning season since 2017, when they reached the Super Bowl and Friday, Steak Shapiro shared his thoughts on why winning will be more important than relationships Morris has within the organization.

“That stuff is so negligible as opposed to who is rushing the quarterback,” Shapiro said to co-host, Sandra Golden, as the two reacted to comments from NFL Chief National Reporter, Steve Wyche, who spoke in an interview with Youtuber, Marq Chaney, and shared that Morris has a ‘great’ relationship with players and Falcons’ owner, Arthur Blank.

And while Shapiro noted that he believes that Morris may indeed bring “energy” and have good relationships with Falcons’ players, it will be more important to see production on the field.

“What he needs to bring through his defensive coordinator and his coaches is the ability to rush the quarterback and all that other stuff doesn’t matter,” Shapiro said, adding that he believes the defense of the Falcons was not as productive as they should have been during the Falcons’ playoff drought.
