Brad Furman’s ‘People Not Places’ Adds Seven To Cast

EXCLUSIVE : Director Brad Furman has rounded out the cast for his indie drama People Not Places , scripted by his mother Ellen Brown Furman, with seven additions. They are Mercedes Ruehl ( The Fisher King ), Yul Vazquez ( The Lost Bus ), Laurence Mason ( Tin Soldier ), Obba Babatundé ( S.W.A.T. ), Joey Bicicchi ( Tin Soldier ), Colleen Camp ( Amsterdam ) and Olivia Jude.

As previously announced, Shirley MacLaine, Stephen Dorff, Julia Mayorga and Allegra Leguizamo also star.

People Not Places watches as Clare (MacLaine), an elderly widow living in Atlantic City, meets an erratic homeless man (Dorff) who sleeps in cars. Their shared loneliness causes them to bond, as they find the courage to face his regrettable past and her shortened future.

Furman and Jess Fuerst ( Tin Soldier , City of Lies ) are producing the film under their Road Less Traveled Productions banner. Jim Seibel ( Nyad , The Grey ) and Kyle David Crosby ( Mending the Line , Bring On the Dancing Horses ) are also producing.

Best known for her Oscar-winning performance in The Fisher King , Ruehl has also been seen in films like Hustlers , Last Action Hero and Big , among many others. She’s also been seen on series like New Amsterdam , Bull and Power , to name just a few.

Currently starring on MGM+’s Hotel Cocaine , Vazquez will next be seen in the Paul Greengrass film The Lost Bus for Apple TV+. Other recent credits include Parish , White House Plumbers , Godfather of Harlem , Promised Land , and Severance .

Part of the cast of Furman’s upcoming action thriller Tin Soldier , Mason’s past feature credits include Furman’s City of Lies and The Lincoln Lawyer , Ali , A.I. Artificial Intelligence , Hackers , The Crow and True Romance , among others. He’s also been seen on shows like Prison Break and The Shield .

Currently starring on CBS’s S.W.A.T. , Babatundé also been seen on Dear White People , I’m Dying Up Here and other series. Feature credits include City of Lies , The Manchurian Candidate , The Notebook , That Thing You Do! and Philadelphia .

Also part of the cast of Tin Soldier , Bicicchi has been seen in indies like Rudderless and series like Apple TV+’s Black Bird .

Camp has appeared in numerous classic films, including Apocalypse Now , Valley Girl , Clue, the Police Academy series, Wayne’s World , Election and more. Recently, she’s been seen in titles like Father Stu and Amsterdam from David O. Russell, who previously cast her in his films Joy and American Hustle .
