Golden Retriever Puppy's Zoomies in a Field Are Straight Out of 'Little House on the Prairie'

The weather is just perfect these days. Summer is the best; when the heat isn't blistering and swamp-like, there's nothing better than taking your dog for a walk. Everything is growing, there are lots of things to sniff, and life is good.

On Saturday, July 13th, one Golden Retriever got to live out her cottage-core dreams in a nice field of grains. She loved her moment, and her parents loved it even more, but you have to watch carefully: she blends in a little too well!

Kensi Rae's girl is so sweet. I'm going to start a petition to get a field like this planted outside her house so she can frolic to her heart's content!

The dog in this video is named Harlow, and she likes to have fun. Her mom's TikTok page isn't specifically dedicated to her, but even so, Harlow has kind of stolen her thunder: in just under a week, this video garnered over 8 million views and almost 2 million likes. Everyone loved it, especially when she leapt in and simply disappeared!

Despite what a lot of comments are saying, the field is not full of foxtails, ticks, rattlesnakes, or anything else: it's barley, and it's her grandfather's field, so she wasn't just ruining a random person's field. She had permission to zoom just this once, and moving forward, she's not allowed. Unfortunately, they do not want her cute paws stomping all over the barley.

Where is a Safe Place to Let Dogs Run?

Evidently, this adorable field of barley ended up being a fine place for her to romp around for a few minutes. Kensie knew that this field was safe and okay, so she let it happen for a few minutes.

Generally, if you see a random field somewhere, it's not a good idea to let you dog roam around in it. You never know what could be in there, whether it's foxtails , ticks, uneven ground, or an unsuspecting animal. You also don't know if it's someone's private property or not, and letting your dog run around willy-nilly is never a good idea. If you want your dog to run, you can try:

    1. Finding a dog park with enough space.
    2. Calling ahead to your local school and asking if you can use the track/fields to run your dog for a few minutes.
    3. Getting a running leash and actually taking your dog for a run yourself.

You should never let your dog run off-leash in a non-enclosed area if their recall isn't perfect; it's too risky. Working on recall should be done in a fenced-in area at first. Fields are barley are apparently not off-limits for Harlow, but most other fields are. I'd hate to be the one stuck brushing field debris off of her!
