    Mid-Michigan gathers to honor fallen state trooper

    LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– The Michigan State Police hosted a highway dedication ceremony Friday to honor a local state police officer who lost his life in the line of duty .

    Trooper Caleb H. Starr was struck by a drunk driver on Grand River Ave. in Boston Township in Ionia County on July 10, 2020. Starr was 33 years old.

    The stretch on US-127 between the Cedar St. exit and the I-96 interchange in Ingham County will be dedicated as “Trooper Starr Memorial Highway.”

    The Michigan State Police say Starr was a native of Mason and graduated from the 135th Trooper Recruit School after joining the MSP in September 2018.
