Days of Our Lives ‘ next major recast will be happening behind the scenes.

Ron Carlivati, who has served as head writer for the past seven years, is parting ways with the iconic soap opera, our sister site Deadline reports. Carlivati, whose departure is effective immediately, is being replaced by Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford, though his episodes will reportedly continue to air through April 2025.

“We look forward to approaching our 60th Anniversary next year with Paula and Jeanne Marie at the helm and fresh, exciting stories that we know the fans will embrace,” reads a statement from executive producer Ken Corday. “We wish Ron nothing but the best and thank him for his dedication and the respect he has shown to me, the cast, and the show’s legacy.”

Prior to becoming Days ‘ head writer in 2017, Carlivati had extended runs at One Life to Live (where his writing team won the Daytime Emmy in 2008) and General Hospital (from January 2012 to July 2015).

Cwikly has previously worked as an associate and head writer for Days in the early 2000s; her other soap credits include As the World Turns , Sunset Beach and The Young and the Restless . Ford, who previously wrote for As the World Turns and One Life to Live , is currently a breakdown writer for Days .

New episodes of Days of Our Lives stream weekdays on Peacock. Your thoughts on this writers’ room shake-up? Drop ’em in a comment below.
