Dogs are often referred to as ‘Man’s best friend.’ This title is well-earned, as our beloved canines show unmatched loyalty and devotion. Their kind and loving nature extends beyond human relationships.

While some dogs befriend household cats, others protect farm livestock. However, this beautiful Labrador’s dearest pal happens to be a Cockatoo. Check out this video from July 15 to see their special bond.

Beautiful Sweet Pea (@ theparrotlady ), the Parrot, greatly enjoys showing her brother Copper her sticks. This handsome fellow understands that she’s asking him to play, and he patiently waits for her to drop the stick so that he can join in on the fun. What a good boy! While they may be different species, their friendship knows no bounds, and it’s a delight to witness. They are the perfect example of how our best friendships can happen when we open our hearts.

Can All Dogs Be Friends With Parrots?

Not all dogs are born for these types of friendships, as many have a natural prey drive because of their ancestry as descendants of wolves. According to Wag , breeds such as Afghan hounds, Beagles , and Jack Russell terriers tend to have stronger instincts , and breeds like Golden Retrievers, English Springer Spaniels, and Vizslas were bred for bird hunting. Additionally, Setters, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever , and Pointers are skilled at catching game. However, when proper introductions are made and early socialization takes place, it can help to foster friendships that last a lifetime.

It’s essential to take these new introductions slowly, reward positive behaviors, and never leave them unsupervised. Parents should also look for signs of stress, aggression, or intense curiosity. If either animal begins to display signs of discomfort, it’s best to cut the session short and try again another time. The key is to ensure both animals feel secure and at ease, progressing their interactions to foster a positive relationship.

People love seeing the sweet exchange between these two pals. Viewer @bjanac responded, “So cute. She brought him a wooden stick.” It really is adorable that she wants to play with her canine sibling. Viewer @HansGoober remarked, “They are so cute together.” Who knew a dog and bird could be such great friends? Viewer @Cyndy’sSweets joked, “Stay back, Copper; Sweet Pea’s got a shank!” LOL! With the right music, it could appear that way. However, as both acted so calmly, it might be hard to believe there were anything but buddies.

We should all be fortunate to find a friendship like Sweet Pea and Coppers. Having someone with whom we can share our favorite things makes them even more special.
