Romain Langasque dropped out of The Open at the Royal Troon Golf Club after a nightmare on the 8th hole left him injured .

The golfer was battling severe 16 mph winds when he completely muffed his swing, and his ball managed only 84 yards before landing in the fescue. His next shot then sliced over the green.

Visibly annoyed, Langasque stripped off his cap, shook his head, and ditched his club to his caddie .

He called time on his participation, shook hands with his squad, and was heard admitting, "I'm done," as he blamed a back problem for ending his run in the year's final major. His departure saw him leaving standing +4 after eight.

Before bowing out, Langasque was trailing with a 3-over par. This performance followed closely after his stellar showing at the Genesis Scottish Open where he bagged third place.

Tiger Woods is also competing, determined not to let his ankle, back, or foot injuries slow him down. Post-crash, this is his first shot at trying all four majors in a single year, and he's intent on proving he's still a serious contender for their titles.

His journey so far has seen him finish 60th at the Masters, but he missed the cut at both the PGA Championship and the US Open. Woods' determination to battle through his physical limitations keeps fans on the edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating a comeback from one of golf's greatest icons.

Sebastian Soderberg also withdrew from the 152nd Open at the last minute because of a back and rib injury. The Royal Troon leaderboard is narrow after Justin Thomas took the early clubhouse lead at three-under-par while reigning champion Bryson DeChambeau struggled on the opening day at five-over and Rory McIlroy finished seven-over.

Joining Thomas at the top of the leaderboard in a thrilling second-place tie were Justin Rose, Alex Noren, Nicolai Hojgaard and Russell Henley with some big-hitters teeing off in the later groups.
