AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Texas Department of Public Safety announced on Friday morning that its Driver’s License Offices across the state were closed, “due to a technical issue which is related to the global CrowdStrike incident,” with no current estimate on when they will reopen.

Texas DPS officials advised that customers with appointments should have been notified of the closure on Friday morning. Although there was no estimate at the time of the announcement on when the offices would be able to reopen, officials said that IT teams were working diligently to fix the issue.

What is CrowdStrike, the company whose faulty update caused widespread outages?

Officials advised community members to monitor DPS’ social media and the department’s website for further updates.
