Vice President Kamala Harris is reportedly speaking with major Democratic donors Friday, as concerns mount over President Joe Biden 's ability to win the election in November.

The 30-minute call organized by LinkedIn co-founder and Democratic megadonor Reid Hoffman will “discuss urgent, emerging needs” and include Harris along with "leaders working on the front lines with voters," according to the New York Times. The outlet reports that it is unknown what kind of message Harris will tell the donors.

“We continue to find ourselves in a rapidly evolving environment,” Hoffman wrote in the email addressed to “friends and allies" organizing the call, according to the New York Times. “With the stakes as high as they are this cycle, we have to remain focused on the critical work that needs to be done to protect our democracy.”

Calls for Biden to step aside have increased exponentially, with 32 congressional Democrats calling on the president to step aside , including 10 on Friday alone. Concern by Democrats over Biden's candidacy began after his disastrous debate performance last month.

Despite pressure from Democrats to step aside, Biden has been firm in maintaining that he will remain in the presidential race. The president is currently isolating at his beach house in Delaware as he recovers from COVID-19.

Biden-Harris campaign Chairwoman Jen O'Malley Dillon said Biden intends to continue his campaign while speaking on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Friday. She acknowledged a "slippage in support," but reaffirmed the campaign was built to survive this type of election.

“I’m not here to say that this hasn’t been a tough several weeks,” O'Malley Dillon said. “It was close in 2020. It’s going to be close in 2024.”

O'Malley Dillon also said on an all-staff campaign call Friday that "when you give me polls, I'm going to give you direct voter contact," according to CBS News, as the campaign presses forward.

If Biden were to step aside from the campaign, Harris would be the most likely candidate to replace the president at the top of the ticket, according to various reports.
