RUSTON, La (KTVE/KARD) – The Lincoln Parish Department of Homeland Security and the local police jury have invited residents to use the new and improved alert system, Linc Alerts.

Linc Alerts is powered by Rave Mobile Safety, which allows residents to receive operational and emergency alerts via email, phone, or text. A member of the Lincoln Parish Police Jury and Deputy Director of Homeland Security provided KTVE/KARD with more details.

Linc Alerts is an app that basically you get operational and severe or emergency alerts. Weather it’s water breaks or electrical power outages or if they get handed the wrong stuff they can send out alerts. And then the operational briefing they can send stuff out like movie nights or road closures. It just depends on what it is that they want to send out. If they want to get it out to the public in an easy way whether it’s text, phone, or email, they can get it out.

Kevin Klepzig, Lincoln Parish Police Jury Member, Homeland Security Deputy Director

According to Klepzig, the app allows the parish, city, and all municipalities to work together for the community. He also spoke on how the app limits confusion about why an alert is being issued. KTVE/KARD spoke to Kelpzig about the importance of signing up for Linc Alerts.

We’re urging people to sign up for it because it’s a way for us to get information out to you whether it’s operational or emergency. We can get it out to you in a quick timely manner. It is not confusing like sirens were. It’s clear, it’s concise, it’s getting the message out in a good way to where people understand it and are not confused.
