Somerset County volunteer fire companies vote to merge

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Two volunteer fire companies in Somerset County announced they are creating a new merged organization.

Over the past year and a half, the Fridens Volunteer Fire Company said they’ve been working closely with the Somerset Vol. Fire Department in creating one merged organization. On Wednesday, July 17, members voted and passed to create the new organization — Somerset Regional Volunteer Fire Department (SRVFD).

According to the Facebook post from Friedens, the merger will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2025.
