MONROE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Four suspects have been charged with more than 50 counts of offenses following a string of high-end vehicle thefts in Union County.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office says that detectives determined that over the last several months, the suspects involved were targeting luxury motor vehicles that were left unlocked with the keys inside.

A fourth suspect, who is under the age of 18, has been charged via juvenile petitions after the Department of Juvenile Justice declined to issue a secured custody order.

As a group, the suspects are charged with:

    • First-Degree Burglary
    • Felony Larceny
    • Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle
    • Larceny of Motor Vehicle
    • Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

Deputies say the circumstances vary in each of these cases, and additional charges for all suspects are likely. The UCSO requests that anyone with information about these cases to call 704-283-3789 or Union County Crime Stoppers at 704-283-5600.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Crime Gun Unit and the State Bureau of Investigation assisted UCSO during this investigation.
