Jadon Sancho has bid farewell to his former Manchester United teammate Mason Greenwood, who's just sealed a switch to Marseille .

Greenwood, a product of United's Carrington academy, is making the move after a loan spell at Grenada and represents Erik ten Hag's most significant sale this summer, fetching the Premier League team a cool £26.6 million ($34.4 million).

The Red Devils are expected to continue their clear-out to back an ambitious summer under the new leadership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, alongside the revamped sporting direction. Players like Victor Lindelof could be on their way out, with Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Scott McTominay, and Marcus Rashford also rumored to be in the transfer conversation.

Sancho, after a stint at Borussia Dortmund during the latter half of the previous season, was tipped for departure too. Yet, with pre-season underway, he's been thrown a lifeline by Ten Hag. The United gaffer, speaking during the second week of training before the US tour, clarified his position on Sancho's future at the club.

"As we said, we draw the line," Ten Hag declared. "Manchester United need good players and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line and we move on."

The relationship between Ten Hag and Sancho had been strained since the start of last season when the manager publicly criticized Sancho's training efforts. The former Manchester City academy player responded online, causing a rift.

However, it seems Sancho now has an opportunity at Old Trafford, unlike Greenwood, who the club deemed it "it would be most appropriate for him" to move on. Upon his announcement as a Marseille player, Greenwood expressed his excitement on social media: "Really excited for this new chapter. Allez l'OM! (blue heart emoji)". Sancho wished him well with a simple raised hands emoji.

Former teammates Angel Gomes, Anthony Elanga, and Shola Shoretire also sent positive messages. Greenwood and Sancho shared the pitch 14 times for United, all during the 2021/22 season.

Liverpool.com says: Not many fans expected Sancho to get another chance at United. It's time for the winger to prove himself at Old Trafford and break back into the England squad.
