Scottie Scheffler's caddie Ted Scott took the course at Royal Troon on Friday despite battling through a serious stomach illness.

Scott was visibly struggling throughout Scheffler's second round at The Open Championship, but battled through and helped the World No. 1 golfer record a 1-under 70.

After his round, Scheffler described his longtime caddie as a "fighter."

"He's a fighter," Scheffler said. "He did a good job today and battled through it."

Photos of Scott lying down on the course between holes were all over social media on Friday.

“He seemed to feel better as the day went on,” Scheffler said. “The doc here took good care of him. But he did not sleep very much last night, apparently.

“We didn't know if he was going to be able to go this morning, but he fought it out. You saw him laying down probably quite a bit out there, which was pretty funny."

Scheffler is T4 at 2-under heading into the weekend, trailing tournament leader Shane Lowry by five strokes.
