    Family of five escapes Clearfield County house fire through window

    CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A family of five was sent to a hospital in Clearfield County Thursday, July 18 after escaping a fire at their home.

    Grampian Penn Bloom Volunteer Fire Company Chief Jim Carns, Jr. said they were called to the fire just before 6 a.m. Firefighters responded to the mobile home along Turner Road in Penn Township where the fire was burning in a bedroom.

    Carns said the family in the home was able to escape through a window before being taken to a local hospital for evaluation after receiving minor injuries like various cuts. The fire was extinguished within 10 to 15 minutes after crews arrived.

    The Red Cross was called to assist the family and a state police fire marshall is investigating the cause. Grampian Penn Bloom Fire was assisted by Rescue Hose & Ladder Co. from Curwensville, Hyde Fire Company, Mahaffey Volunteer Fire Department, Brady Township Fire Department, and three ambulance services.
