Chipotle opening new Lake Murray location with ‘Chipotlane’

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Curbside pickup fans now have a new avenue to grab their burritos without having to get out of their car. Chipotle is debuting another “Chipotlane” in San Diego at a brand new location in Lake Murray.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is opening the new San Diego location on Thursday, July 25 at 8856 Navajo Road in the former Carl’s Jr. building in the San Carlos Village Shopping Mall in the Lake Murray neighborhood.

The new location will have a “Chipotlane,” a drive thru pick-up lane that allows guests to pick up digital orders without leaving their cars.

The menu at the new Lake Murray location will offer Chicken al Pastor , which Chipotle describes as having flavors of morita peppers balanced with a splash of pineapple, lime, and cilantro, available for a limited time.

The company’s digital order drive thru pick-up lane concept first came about in the U.S. in 2018 and has expanded in recent years. San Diego’s first Chipotle with a “Chipotlane” opened in the fall of 2022 on North El Camino Real.

The new Lake Murray Chipotle will be near another location that offers a “Chipotlane” as well — 8005 Fletcher Pkwy in La Mesa.

The Navajo Road location is hiring , and will be open from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. View a list of Chipotle locations in San Diego on their website .

In other news, Chipotle Mexican Grill announced on July 1 exclusive digital menu items in partnership with America’s top athletes ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The chain will also be launching gold foil for a limited time in the U.S. and France on July 25, along with new episodes of its “Unwrapped” video series.
