Lisa Kudrow Says ‘We’re Due’ for a New Season of The Comeback

Is The Comeback coming back? (Fingers crossed.)

Lisa Kudrow says she would “love to” play Valerie Cherish again in a new interview with Newsweek , adding that series co-creator “Michael Patrick King and I are always talking about what would happen next. Always. And it’s been nine, 10 years now. So we’re due.” (When reached by TVLine about a possible third season, HBO had no comment.)

Kudrow — who co-created the series with King — played fading TV star Valerie Cherish in the HBO comedy, which debuted in 2005. In it, Valerie attempts to revive her career by joining the cast of a new sitcom and also filming a reality show about her life. It was axed after a single season but developed a cult following over the years, leading to a revival season in 2014. Kudrow earned Emmy nominations for best lead actress in a comedy for both seasons.

The supporting cast included Damian Young as Valerie’s husband Mark, Malin Akerman as young starlet Juna, Laura Silverman as reality show producer Jane, Lance Barber as boorish TV writer Paulie G and Robert Michael Morris — who sadly passed away in 2017 — as Valerie’s hairdresser pal Mickey.

Kudrow appreciates the continued fan interest in the show, too: “I’m just thrilled and adore anyone who has the level of appreciation for The Comeback that meets the level of pride I have for doing that show.”

A third season of The Comeback : Do you want to see that? Hit the comments and make enough noise so HBO can hear.
