Latto Explains Why Ice Spice Can’t ‘Real’ Beef With Her, and the Internet Agrees

It’s no secret that Latto and Ice Spice don’t always get along. But the “Big Energy” rapper, has no intentions to rap battle with newcomer Ice Spice.

Rising tensions among rappers are becoming more common every other day. Just last month, the conversation centered on feuds between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Now, all eyes are on Latto and Ice Spice.

Initially, Latto appeared to be ‘beefing’ with Nicki Minaj following a heated Twitter exchange in 2022. However, fans believe Latto’s attention has shifted to Ice Spice, who has been linked to Nicki Minaj since 2023 when the Pink Friday artist dubbed Spice the “princess of rap.”

That same year, Latto worked with Cardi B, Minaj’s longtime rival, on a fantastic remix of “Put It on da Floor.”

While tensions between the Atlanta and Bronx rappers appeared to be subtle at first, with veiled digs in their music or Instagram posts, the past month has seen a shift towards more overt targeting, leading many fans to believe that a genuine feud is taking place.

But Latto says otherwise.

During a recent interview with Billboard, she stated that if she were to face someone similar to Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar, she would choose her opponent carefully, and it wouldn’t be Ice Spice.

“If I was to do [a battle], it would have to be with somebody I feel like Imma go tit for tat with,” Latto told Billboard for her new cover story. “I really don’t mean it as shade. Would she even want to do that?”

She went on to say that whatever shade has been thrown thus far hasn’t bothered her because it’s all part of the game.

“Everybody gon’ take their lil jabs in the music, and it’s not even that serious to me. I feel like you should do that. Continue to! But as far as actual whole diss records to each other, I don’t think she would even want to do that. I feel like… would it even make sense? It wouldn’t,” she added.

Latto’s comments have struck a chord with fans online. Many people took to the comment section to agree with Latto, pointing out that her rap mastery was far above Ice Spice’s capabilities.
