NBC has finally granted a series order to the Stephen Amell-led Suits: LA spin-off, after giving the project a pilot order in February. This comes after the original series started receiving global recognition, after finding success with its streaming debuts on Netflix and Peacock.

The Arrowverse vet filmed the pilot in Vancouver last spring, which was directed and executive produced by Victoria Mahoney (The Old Guard 2). The upcoming series marks Amell’s first major TV project, following the Starz cancellation of his wrestling drama Heels after two seasons.

What is Suits: LA spin-off about?

“Suits: L.A. centers on Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, who has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles,” reads the logline. “His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.”

The spin-off hails from original series creator Aaron Korsh, who is executive producing with David Bartis, Doug Liman, and Gene Klein. Joining Amell’s Ted Black are Josh McDermitt as Stuart Lane, Lex Scott Davis as Erica Rollins, Troy Winbush as Kevin, Alice Lee as Leah, Bryan Greenberg as Rick Dodsen, John Amos, Victoria Justice as Dylanm Pryor, and Kevin Weisman as Lester Thompson.
