WWE Superstars Get Call Of Duty Skins.

On July 17th, Call of Duty announced a collaboration with WWE for the first time in the games storied franchise. The collaboration includes three operator skins including weapon blueprints and finishing moves for the characters. Activision released the details of their season five update.

The superstars confirmed to be apart of the collaboration are "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, and Rhea "Bloody" Ripley. The finishing moves shown in the season five trailer included Randy Orton's head punt along with Rhodes' in ring finishing move Cross Rhodes. Mysterio was also seen in images and video delivering a running bulldog. It has yet to be confirmed if that will be a finishing move for operators.

While the Cody Rhodes, and Mysterio skins will only be available through purchase in the Call of Duty in game shop, the Rhea Ripley skin will be available to players as part of the season five battle pass. Players are granted the base skin for buying the battle pass and can earn another style by completing all 100 tiers of the battle pass.

These skins represent a landmark moment in professional wrestling. Call Of Duty is one of the longest running most popular gaming franchises of all time. Starting back in 2003, it seems a little surprising this is the first major partnership between the two brands.

Call of Duty has been branching out for collaborations on in game content for quite a while, but over the past few years they've really been focusing on some pop culture characters to bolster sales. The most noteable names include Snoop Dogg, Cheech and Chong, Godzilla and Kong, Attack on Titan, and Gundam to name a few.

With the success of the John Cena, Becky Lynch, and Bianca Belair skins in Fortnite, it seemed like only a matter of time until Call of Duty decided to create characters based on wrestlers for the game. Call of Duty has been known to go back to the same franchise for more skins if they perform well. There could be more WWE skins to come in the future depending on the success of the Mysterio, Rhodes, Ripley trio.

Call of Duty got me on this one. Through all of the collaborations they have done over the years I would never have expected a cross over like this. Using my some of my favorite superstars in one of my favorite games ever is an absolute dream come true. I thought it was cool when u got to run around Fortnite as Becky Lunch, but now I get to run ranked lobbies as Mami? Count me in!
