Got a boring ceiling? We hate to break it to you, but you probably do. Most ceilings are as exciting as watching paint dry—sometimes quite literally. Whether it's plain white or blessed with popcorn texture, the reality is that most folks just don't pay enough attention to what's above their heads. But what if there was an easy way to turn your ceiling into the star of your room? Enter TikTok creator Ashley and her genius vintage-inspired hack for a brand new look.

Whenever Ashley looked up at her ceiling, she saw, well, pretty much nothing. The ceiling was just there, existing without contributing anything special to her room’s vibe. While the idea of painting the ceiling crossed her mind, Ashley wanted something with more pizzazz. That's when she stumbled upon a fantastic solution—stylized Styrofoam tiles painted a light sage green to match the rest of her room. These aren’t just any Styrofoam tiles; they have a gorgeous vintage look that screams character and charm.

The best part? These tiles were a breeze to install. Ashley bought the tiles, painted them, and simply glued them up. It was far less time-consuming and labor-intensive than painting the ceiling would have been. All she had to do was trim the edges a bit, and voila! A beautiful, transformed ceiling. To seal everything in, Ashley added a coat of caulk, making the process almost too easy to believe.

But wait, there’s more! If you’re considering adding Styrofoam panels to your ceiling, there is one big thing to keep in mind - namely, safety should always be a priority. Make sure the Styrofoam you use isn’t flammable . No one wants their lovely vintage ceiling to turn into a fire hazard. This was a major concern among commentors, including @elizzdizzle who shares "I'm saying this out of love - it's an extreme fire hazard. My playroom had a Styrofoam ceiling, my house got on fire and when it spread to this room, the ceiling immediately melted." So, do keep that in mind.

Some wise commentators also chimed in with additional tips to make this hack even better. For instance, if you’re looking for a bit more soundproofing (because who doesn’t love a quieter room?), consider adding a layer of foam boards between the ceiling and the tiles. It is really all about what you need in your space, and how much work you are willing to put into the whole project.
