LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — The Voter ID ballot initiative has qualified to appear on the November ballot after signatures were verified by election officials on Friday.

A news release from Repair The Vote PAC said 185,573 signatures had been submitted in support of the initiative, which would require each voter in Nevada to present photo identification when voting in person. If the vote is by mail, Voter ID would require the voter to provide the last four digits of their driver’s license or social security number.

The initiative is meant to bolster confidence in elections and ensure that every vote is legitimate, according to the news release.

A minimum of 25,591 signatures from each of the state’s four congressional districts is required for the initiative to qualify for the ballot.

The Secretary of State’s website indicates the petition was ruled sufficient as of Friday.

“We are elated to have met another massive milestone in this process; now it is up to Nevadans,”
said David Gibbs, Chairman of Repair The Vote PAC.

Efforts to amend the state Constitutional amendments require passage in two consecutive elections. Voter ID would be placed on the 2026 ballot if it passes this year.
