Call AARP, fill out our social security paperwork, and order us a spot at the retirement home because we're officially old. That's right, we're calling ourselves out after watching a video of a woman discovering a true relic at her local secondhand shop that confused an entire generation.

The video, which only features the item being lifted off the shelf, highlights just how far we've come as a society when it comes to new technology, and just how long it takes for anyone born after 1990 to feel ancient.

At least the good news is that we no longer have a need for these organizational items, which has left us with so much more shelf space now that we can listen to whatever music we want to simply by saying, "Alexa, play Kate Bush."

We had a cheap plastic one in our house, but I knew immediately what this was. šŸ˜‚ #goodwillfind #thrifting #thiftshop #millennial

ā™¬ Oh my god what is that - Shoftyz

Other than feeling badly after watching @laurelhope123's videoĀ ā€” we didn't realize we were old enough to have something that was such a substantial part of our lives become totally obsoleteĀ ā€” we couldn't help but laugh at the fact that there are some people out there who have no idea what CD racks are used for.

And that's not the only thing that had us giggling either, some people made some pretty outlandish guesses when they couldn't figure out what the OP was holding, including one commenter who thought that the device was actually something used to keep pests in check.

"I thought it was the thing that kills bugs," they wrote.

CD racks are kind of dated now since nobody really uses digital media anymore, so people are probably going to end up seeing more and more of these on the shelves at their local thrift stores. Fortunately, there are plenty of good ideas for things that they can do with them when they come across these throwback pieces.

Transform Your Old CD Rack Into Something Else

If you're feeling crafty and you want to give a CD rack a second life, you can do what this woman did and turn your found rack into a retro style plant holder.

Not a plant lover? Well that's okay because you can keep all of your vino safe by turning your CD tower into a wine rack like this woman did. Okay, we're not going to lie, this one is giving big millennial mom vibes!

CD Racks Can Be Updated With a Little Creativity

See, it doesn't matter whether you've stumbled across a CD rack in the thrift store, or you're trying to find something new to do with the one from your childhood, there are plenty of ways to turn that ancient piece of furniture into something perfect for these modern times.
