BELMONT COUNTY, O.H. (WTRF) — Businesses and organizations throughout the Ohio Valley went head-to-head in a three-day fundraising event.

Celebrity Scoopers, an event put on by the United Way, had volunteers serve ice cream at Kirke’s Homemade Ice Cream while members of the community tipped who they thought was best.

7 news reporters Jake Mcglumphy and Baylee Martin got the inside scoop on what it means to put the fun in fundraising.

“We have different people here volunteer their time for an hour to scoop ice cream. All the proceeds go to our annual campaign Raised Here Stays Here, and that campaign basically funds local nonprofits throughout the Ohio Valley”

Staci Stephen, executive director, United Way of the upper Ohio Valley

Although the winner may have gotten to taste victory, helping local nonprofits through a sweet fundraising event was the best treat of all.

United Way is thankful for the volunteers and community members who made this fundraiser so great.
