GEORGIA (WJBF) – The Georgia Department of Driver Services website, dds.georgia.gov, has been affected by the worldwide tech outage this Friday.

An announcement bar at the top of the website homepage states the following: “Due to the Microsoft/CrowdStrike Global outage – DDS Services are unavailable.”

Though visitors are able to access several pages on the website, people are unable to login to accounts and utilize online services, including paying fees and license/ID renewals.

CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company based in Texas, reported a defect in one of their security updates for Microsoft Windows devices led the the outage. CrowdStrike said the software glitch is not the result of a cyber attack.
