SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) —To improve local fishing opportunities, authorities restocked the Concho River on July 19 with a fresh supply of catfish.

Lynn Wright, a district fisheries biologist involved in the initiative, expressed its significance.

“This neighborhood fishing program is special,” said Wright. “There are only twenty sites throughout Texas, mostly in urban areas where we stock every two weeks to try to create an environment where anglers have a really good chance of catching fish.”

Looking ahead, officials plan to introduce rainbow trout during the winter months. The scheduled restocking on September 6 is set to continue the cycle of ensuring a sustainable fishing environment.
