2024 Cardinals roster preview: DL Darius Robinson

The Arizona Cardinals will open training camp July 23 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.

Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2023, questions they face and their roster outlook.

Next up is defensive lineman Darius Robinson.

Background

Robinson played basketball at Canton Preparatory High School in Canton, Mich., until transferring to Canton High School to play football in his junior season. He played five seasons at Missouri and was an inside lineman until becoming an edge rusher in 2023. In his career, Robinson played 49 games with 36 coming in the last three seasons. He totaled 120 tackles (72 solo) with 21.5 for loss, 13.0 sacks, and one pass defensed, forced fumble and fumble recovery. He was selected by the Cardinals with the 27th overall pick in the first round of the 2024 draft.

2023 stats

Last season when he was named first-team All-SEC, Robinson played 12 games and compiled 43 tackles (29 solo) with 14 for loss, to go with 8.5 sacks and one forced fumble and recovery.

2024 contract details, cap hit

Robinson’s four-year rookie contract that includes a fifth-year club option is worth $13.869 million guaranteed and includes a $6.9 million signing bonus. His salary-cap charge this year is $2.52 million.

Questions he faces

Where will Robinson play? Likely all over the defense, given the versatility he showed when moving outside in his final season at Missouri.

2024 roster outlook

Whether he starts or not on the Cardinals defense, Robinson is expected to play a large number of defensive snaps.
