NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Information related to the vandalism and theft that occurred in Franklin State Forest in Franklin County could be worth $10,000.
The reward is being offered by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) in the hopes that it leads to the apprehension, arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for vandalism and theft on the Franklin County forest.
“As investigators continue to collect evidence at the scene in Franklin County, we are asking for the public’s help with information about the recent crimes,” Commissioner Charlie Hatcher said. “Early estimates of the $1 million loss to forestry equipment leave taxpayers footing the bill.”
At some point between July 10 and 14, five TDA Division of Forestry dozers and one transport truck and trailer were vandalized and damaged. That rendered the equipment inoperable, according to Agriculture officials. The destruction prompted the TDA to temporarily close access to the forest while the investigation is conducted.

The forest is still closed to visitors, but the TDA said it would announce when law enforcement officers complete their investigation and when the forest would reopen.
Anyone with information that could help identify those responsible for the damage has been asked to contact the Agricultural Crimes Unit at 844-AG-CRIME (844-242-7463) or email agriculture.crime@tn.gov .
