HARRIS COUNTY, Ga. ( WRBL ) — With the school year getting closer every day, the Harris County School District is asking qualified families to apply for the school’s Free and Reduced-Price School Meal program.

For the second year in a row, the application process will be done primarily online through www.EZMealApp.com , but there are several ways to obtain an application.

The application form will be available in the following ways:

    • To complete online: Visit www.EZMealApp.com , sign up, and follow the steps.
    • To print and complete: Visit the HCSD website ( www.harris.k12.ga.us ) and find the form under the “School Nutrition” tab.
    • To get a paper form, visit: HCSD School Nutrition Office (132 Barnes Mill Road, Hamilton).
    • Sneak-A-Peek events at each school (HCCMS and Creekside on Aug. 5, elementary schools and HCHS on Aug. 56).
    • Students can request an application on the first day of school (Aug. 8).

According to HCSD, the price for breakfast for the 2024-2025 school year is $1.50. The prices for lunch will be: $2.75 for elementary schools and $3.00 for intermediate school, middle school, and high school.

The deadline for application to be turned in is Sept. 19. This is also the expiration date for forms that were approved for the 2023-2024 school year. Completed paper applications should be returned to the child’s homeroom teacher or school cafeteria manager.

HCSD is asking parents to complete the application or return a paper copy as quickly as possible.

Sheila Baker, HCSD Assistant Superintendent of Support Services said, “Our goal is to ensure that no child goes hungry while at school. We also do not want any parent to accrue a balance for school meals that could be free or reduced price.”

For additional information or any inquiries, contact Brad Johnson, HCSD director of school nutrition, at 706-628-4172 or by email at johnson-brad@harris.k12.ga.us .
