In the hours and days following the incident, the story unfolded, identifying 20-year-old Thomas Crooks as the shooter.

As the story developed, it was learned that multiple law enforcement officers had been briefed that Crooks was seen on the roof outside the rally's security zone. The New York Post reported that Crooks was even identified as a person of interest an hour before the shooting took place.

She did not name the hotel. She said staff finally looked at her paperwork and gave her a room, but they wanted to charge her. for it. She said they initially weren’t going to allow her to stay because she has a service animal.
