    Popular trails in Cleveland National Forest close due to excessive heat

    SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Four popular trails in San Diego County have temporarily closed due to the extreme heat.

    The San Diego River Gorge, Cedar Creek Falls, Three Sisters Falls and Eagle Peak trails in the Cleveland National Forest will not be open until Monday amid excessive heat warnings and heat advisories in the area, the U.S. Forest Service said on its website.

    In the deserts, the National Weather Service on Friday morning issued an Excessive Heat Warning for areas like Borrego Springs, stretching to the border of Julian and Mount Laguna. A Heat Advisory will remain in effect until 9 p.m. Sunday for areas like La Mesa, Poway, Escondido, Santee, El Cajon, San Marcos, Julian and Pine Valley.
