Anyone who has ever thought of coaching golf or teaching future musicians the importance of practice, as a band teacher, may want to apply for those positions and others listed on the Bertie school district website.
Bertie schools officially open on Aug. 26 and, according to the district’s website, there are 14 positions open including a bookkeeper, human resources assistant and a behavioral support position.
Those who have the qualifications to be an Assistant Principal could possibly find employment with the district.
Essential duties and responsibilities for the assistant principal position include becoming a member of the administrative team and assisting in the development of the school’s goals. The applicant will also be required to participate in the planning of instructional programs.
Budgetary skills are also important. The position assists in the preparation and management of budgets and schedules along with the coordination and implementation of the co-curricular program.
If one’s goal is to become an elementary school teacher, Bertie County is looking to fill two elementary teacher positions.
The positions require a bachelor’s degree from an approved education program. The term of employment is for 10 months. Applicant responsibilities include constant monitoring the safety and well-being of the students while having the ability to motivate them. A clean and orderly environment is also a top priority, while maintaining order in the classroom is a must.
August may be the time to join the chorus. The district is accepting applications for a chorus teacher’s position. Applicants will be required to plan the program and assist in the development of the annual objectives for the school and also plan an instructional program incorporating objectives.
The chorus teacher is expected to incorporate learner objectives compatible with the subject, grade level and establish curriculum. The teacher assesses his/her instructional program to determine its effectiveness.
Other positions open include a mechanic, a nurse, a PE teacher, an AIG teacher and a director of elementary education.
As of press time, the golf coach position is still open.
According to the job requirements the coach will be responsible for providing competitive coaching, supervision and management of athletic team and staff. The coach will also work with the athletic office with compliance, fundraising, promotion and scheduling of team events and activities.
The head golf coach will also instruct student athletes in the rules and fundamentals of their declared sport, this includes instruction of physical health, team concepts, sportsmanship and safety. The coach also plans and schedules games, practices, scrimmages, workouts, team meetings, player and parent conferences and study halls. Along with these and a list of other responsibilities the applicant must enjoy playing and teaching golf.
