Ohio's sales-tax holiday is getting supersized this year, expanding to 10 days long.

And it's not just an opportunity to save on school supplies and children's clothes. Now almost any sale can be tax-free for 10 days. So when does it start?

    We've got you covered:

    When is Ohio's sales-tax holiday?

This year's sales-tax holiday is scheduled from midnight on July 30 through 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 8. According to the Ohio Department of Taxation, the sales-tax waiver will cover all tangible personal property — basically, anything that can be touched, moved or consumed — that is $500 or less.

Well, not everything. Watercraft and motor vehicles will remain taxable. Cigarettes, tobacco and vaping products aren't in line for a short-term tax break, either. Nor are any items containing marijuana.

The new list does include dine-in food purchases at restaurants. But here's another big exception: Sales taxes still will apply to beer, wine, cocktails and other alcoholic beverages.

Does the exemption apply to online purchases?

It does! Any qualifying items purchased online during the holiday will be tax exempt. The item doesn't have to be delivered during the holiday; you just have to purchase it during the timeframe.

On the flip side, items ordered before the holiday but delivered during it are not tax exempt. Shipping and handling costs are also tax-free during the holiday.
