Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has announced plans to relocate 175 jobs from its Akron headquarters to a new facility in Costa Rica. The decision, set to take effect in early 2025, is part of the company's "Goodyear Forward" transformation plan, aimed at streamlining operations and reducing costs.

This relocation represents a notable shift for Goodyear, which currently employs over 2,500 workers in Akron out of its global workforce of approximately 71,000. The move is expected to impact roles supporting Goodyear's America's business and corporate functions, potentially altering the economic fabric of the local community.

The news comes on the heels of another significant job cut announcement in Ohio. Earlier this week, Bath & Body Works Logistics Services revealed plans to scale back its distribution operations in Columbus, resulting in the elimination of 75 positions. These back-to-back announcements have raised concerns about the stability of Ohio's job market and the broader implications for the state's economy.
