Manchester United are reportedly prepared to let Antony go on loan this summer, provided that interested clubs are willing to cover his wages.

The 24-year-old Brazilian winger was a key signing for the Red Devils in the summer of 2022, following strong advocacy from Erik ten Hag, who had previously worked closely with the player at Ajax.

However, two seasons on from his high-profile transfer, Antony has struggled to justify the $111m (£86m) fee that United paid to bring him to the Premier League , and he could now be set for a summer move.

According to ESPN , United are open to loaning Antony out this summer, as long as any potential suitors are willing to fully cover his $90k (£70k) weekly wages.

While United are ready to approve a loan move, previous reports suggested that the club's top brass were ready to cut their losses on Antony as part of plans for a summer clear-out.

United have already made two summer signings in the form of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro but are keen to further strengthen the squad. However, their limited transfer budget means that they are looking to raise additional funds through player trading, and there are other options for Ten Hag on the wings.

Although Antony was not among the few young stars that United reportedly consider unsellable, it seems a loan move may be more likely for the winger. Despite Antony's continued struggles on the pitch and a stern talking-to from his boss last term, Erik ten Hag has unwaveringly supported the winger to find his form at United.

Back in February, Ten Hag expressed his confidence in Antony to the press, saying: "With Antony, I backed him for a long time. I know his abilities, great abilities, I know from the past he is unstoppable, no defender can stop him because he's one of the quickest in the first 10 yards. When he plays that game I'm sure he will perform.

"He's resilient, he's a character and he will fight back. I back him and he now has to wait for his chance and, once he is there, he has to pick up."

Liverpool.com says: Antony arrived at Old Trafford for big money, with a big reputation. But he has simply not done enough in a United shirt. His days appear numbered and if Ten Hag is able to bring in another wide man, the Brazilian's opportunities will be further limited.
