Sunday we'll see some sunshine, and heavy rain is still possible.

Temperatures could reach the high 80s again. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected with heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

"The biggest threat appears to be flooding downpours and localized flash flooding as shear is relatively weak," ABC11 meteorologist Steve Stewart said, "and instability is on the meager side for late July standards."

This follows scattered storms and showers moving across central North Carolina on Saturday. Some areas saw between .5 to 1.5 inches of rain.

No risk for severe weather but heavy downpours over saturated ground.

    Looking Ahead

Monday will likely have more thunderstorm development alongside isolated gusty to damaging winds. The main threat is again flooding because of the high moisture in the area.

Temperatures will reach the high 80s.

Rain is expected every day this week.
