An investigation has been launched after a body was discovered on a rural Mississippi county road.

WTVA in Tupelo reports that the body of a male was found on Thursday, July 18, in the southeastern part of Prentiss County.

Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar said the body was found in the area of County Road 5091, near County Road 5320.

Officials with the Prentiss County Coroner’s Office could not confirm the identity of the body and are awaiting autopsy results for more information.

Officials believe the body is that of Clifton Gray, who was last seen on Tuesday night (July 16) walking on County Road 5312 close to the location of the body’s discovery.

On Friday, two persons of interest were reportedly in custody; however, no charges have been filed in the case.
