Simone Biles even impresses herself sometimes.

The U.S. gymnastics legend is headed to her third straight Summer Games, the oldest gymnast to represent the United States in the Olympics since 1950. As she departed for Paris on Friday, Biles sent a message of amazement.

"Can't Believe I'm Heading to My 3rd Olympic Games," Biles wrote in an Instagram Story , showing off the view from her airplane seat.

While Biles is working toward another gold medal, she is also seeking redemption after having to pull out of the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 after struggles with her performance and mental health. In an appearance on the Today Show this week, Biles said she hopes to cement her legacy.

"As long as I was having fun and doing what I love, that's all that you can do," Biles said .

"I don't want to look back 50 years from now and be like, 'Wow, she was good, but she was so miserable.' And I think a couple times I might have thought that, but now I'm just like, 'Wow, look at her go. She's having so much fun. She's loving what she's doing with who she's doing it with.' So, really just embracing that moment."
