Police in Meeker County are investigating a worrying incident that saw a young woman out jogging chased into a wooded area by a man.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened on the 68800 block of 233 rd Street near Darwin-Dassel County Park between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. Friday, with the 18-year-old woman exercising when she was approached by the suspect.

The man is described as being in his 20s, skinny, about 6'1" tall with blond hair and wearing grey sweatpants and a grey sweater, and driving an older grey truck.

"The victim described the incident as the male confronting her so she ran off into the woods. The suspect ran after her," the sheriff's office said.

Help arrived in the form of a good Samaritan, a man in his 50s, who was also out jogging at the time and scared the suspect away.

Police are trying to track down the Samaritan, who has white hair, and was wearing blue shorts, a blue shirt and glasses.

"This is an active and ongoing investigation and detectives would like to talk with the good Samaritan," police said, and is also appealing for any surveillance footage from the area.

Anyone with information should call police at 320-693-5400 or leave information on the confidential tip-line at 320-693-5411.
