Nancy Pelosi speaks at NC Democratic Party Unity dinner as division over Biden grows

At the Unity Dinner, an easy passing of the torch with Governor Roy Cooper eager to support his potential successor Josh Stein, and candidates down the ballot. It all comes as national Democrats are eager to flip North Carolina blue.

"They are all in on North Carolina," Cooper said.

"So let's use our power and together we will build a North Carolina that is safer stronger and more prosperous for everybody," Stein said.

But the question over Biden passing the torch still looms large.

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been part of those discussions but today, she was speaking to the crowd highlighting the administration's accomplishments and contrasting that with Donald Trump. There was no mention of the top of the ticket, but she believes Democrats can win in November.

"No wasted time, no underutilized resources, and no regrets the day after the election that we could have done more, are you ready for a great Democratic victory? I thought so!" she chanted.

And that's the attitude the party's chair is taking - Anderson Clayton says for them nothing has changed

"We have a lot at stake and the stakes haven't changed in this election the last 3 weeks or over the last 3 years we've seen an administration that is invested in North Carolina," Clayton said.

We asked members of Congress their thoughts on President Biden.

"I'm a yellow dog, Democrat, I'd vote for a yellow dog over a junkyard dog any day this is not about Biden, this is about saving our democracy," said Congresswoman Deborah Ross

Ross believes Biden can win North Carolina but wouldn't say if he should stay on the ballot.

"The Republicans have put up people who stormed the capitol and they can't even do their job right now and all the media want to talk about it one thing, let's talk about our future," she said.

ABC11 spoke to Pelosi before the event and after however, she did not want to speak one-on-one about the state of the race.

Former Congressman GK Butterfield also said he would not be commenting until after Biden makes a decision which he said could come this week.
