Armie Hammer has finally addressed rumors that his stint in rehab three years ago was funded by fellow Hollywood star Robert Downey Jr .

The 37-year-old denied that Robert paid for his treatment during an interview with Piers Morgan on Friday night. He discussed the six months of treatment he received as he dealt with sexual assault allegations made against him as well as claims that he had a cannibalism fetish .

It had previously been reported that Robert had financed the rehab stint after he turned his career around following rehabilitation for his own addictions . Armie has now refuted this, telling Piers: "No, he did not. He did not pay for me to go to rehab."

Armie did admit that the Marvel actor had been "supportive" of him after he confessed to being "addicted to escapism" when "recreationally" using cocaine and ecstasy. Armie said: "I don't want to bring anyone else into my situation.

"There are a number of people who have been extremely helpful and I'm incredibly grateful." Armie stated Robert had helped him "in the way where anyone in Hollywood who suffers from any sort of addiction issues, whether it be alcohol or process addiction or drugs, decides to get sober, that guy will find you, and he will help you. It's amazing."

Armie opened up about the guidance he received from Robert after being shunned by Hollywood, revealing that the Iron Man star advised him: "Sit down. Shut up. Everything's gonna be okay."

Variety reported that during this turbulent period, Armie stayed at Robert's Los Angeles home as he attended Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. The Call Me By Your Name actor also addressed the bizarre rumors of his cannibalism fetish that have been swirling since 2021, when allegations emerged.

Speaking to Piers, Armie clarified that the rumors stemmed from consensual sex acts he had engaged in. When asked directly about being a cannibal, Armie said: "You know what you have to do to be a cannibal?

"You have to have actually eaten somebody." He then asserted that he has never consumed human flesh, therefore, cannot be considered a 'cannibal'.
