Princess Kate Shares Message On The Healing “Power Of Nature” Amid Her Cancer Battle

Princess Kate is celebrating the healing power of nature with the opening of two new gardens at the Natural History Museum in London.

The Princess of Wales took to her Instagram stories on July 18 to share her thoughts on the new additions. Kate, who is well-known for her love of nature, serves as the museum’s royal patron.

“I am hugely supportive of the Museum’s commitment to create a special space which encourages people of all ages to reconnect with nature and learn more about how we can protect our natural world,” she wrote.

“I know the power of nature to support our development and wellbeing, both by bringing us joy and helping to keep us physically, mentally, and spiritually healthy,” she continued. “I hope these gardens will be inspiring and transformative for the thousands of people who visit.”

Princess Kate has long been a supporter of forest bathing, or spending time in nature to soothe all five senses. She even based her debut garden at the Chelsea Flower Show on the concept.

“I really feel that nature and being interactive outdoors has huge benefits on our physical and mental well-being,” she said in 2019, per People.

In her first social media post after revealing her cancer diagnosis, Princess Kate also leaned into healing through nature with a symbolic portrait that showed her standing against a river-side tree while gazing into the sky.

“There she is in nature, which has fortified her, and looking upward in a sign of real hope and encouragement for everybody,” Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told People.

“She could have posted an image of her with William or the kids. Even though she has a huge amount of support from others, it is a journey you have to do on your own,” Queen Elizabeth’s former press secretary, Ailsa Anderson, added. “[The photo] was her on her own. It was reflective.”
