Arsenal are finalising a move for Ajax goalkeeper Tommy Setford, with the plan for him to play a part in their tour to the USA.

The Gunners have agreed a fee with Ajax in the region of €1million and the 18-year-old is set to bolster Arsenal’s goalkeeping department.

Ajax had wanted to keep Setford, but he had one year left on his contract and was unwilling to sign fresh terms.

His move to Arsenal is understood to be in the final stages and the hope is its wrapped up so he can be part of the club’s tour to the USA.

The Gunners are flying out on Sunday and play their first game against Bournemouth on Wednesday.

They will then have matches against Manchester United and Liverpool before flying back to the UK.

Karl Hein is expected to be the No1 on tour given Aaron Ramsdale and David Raya are on holiday after competing at Euro 2024.

Hein started Arsenal’s friendly with Leyton Orient on Saturday, which was behind closed doors.

The Gunners won 2-0 thanks to goals by Gabriel Jesus and Emile Smith Rowe .

Hein played the first 70 minutes and came off for young goalkeeper Lucas Nygaard - who joined Arsenal this summer.

Arsenal are expected to take several youngsters to the USA due to the fact senior players are away on holiday.

Ayden Heaven started at centre-back in the win over Orient, while Myles Lewis-Skelly got the nod at left-back.

Ethan Nwaneri, who like Heaven and Lewis-Skelly has been tipped for big things, got minutes off the bench.
