World’s tallest autonomous robot scans 100,000+ pallets daily at warehouse

The world’s tallest autonomous robot works in a warehouse to scan pellets. However, this 45-foot-tall machine hasn’t yet got its name.
Equipped with multiple sensors for accurate identification of temperature, humidity, noise, and light, the machine can easily scan over a million square feet.
Claimed to be safe around humans, the robot is capable of carrying over 12 high-definition cameras.
It is predicted that over 4 million robots will be operating in 50,000 warehouses by 2025. This impressive surge in automation is allowing warehouses to respond to the rising demands of e-commerce, while coping with labor and space shortages, according to Dexory.
Robot is completely autonomous
“The robot is completely autonomous in terms of looking after its state of charge and after its battery,” said Dexory CEO Andrei Danescu in a recent TechFirst podcast.
“Very similar to household robots. You would like to know everything that’s going on in the warehouse, every single pallet movement , how much product you have in every single location, and also things like what are the conditions in which you’re storing the goods.”
Operates seamlessly within warehouse environments
Designed to operate seamlessly within warehouse environments, the towering robot embodies Dexory’s commitment to advancing logistics technology.
Equipped with state-of-the-art sensors, including high-definition cameras, temperature gauges, and humidity monitors, it autonomously navigates vast warehouse spaces, scanning over 100,000 pallets every 24 hours.
This relentless efficiency not only boosts operational speed but also ensures meticulous inventory management.
One of the robot’s standout features is its ability to create a real-time digital twin of a warehouse. This digital replica provides comprehensive insights into inventory movement, storage conditions, and operational efficiency, according to Dexory.
Machine vision and simultaneous localization
The robotic system leverages advanced technologies such as machine vision and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM).
Dexory’s innovation promises to revolutionize how warehouses operate in an era increasingly driven by automation and near-instant fulfilment expectations, said the company in a statement.
“Our goal is to provide unparalleled visibility and efficiency across global warehouse networks,” says Danescu. “By harnessing the power of robotics and smart software, we aim to elevate warehouse management to new heights.”
According to Dexory , the stages of mapping, localization, path planning, navigation and relocalization are bought together by a control system which orchestrates these processes to work simultaneously.
This results in a truly autonomous robot that navigates a warehouse, automatically extends the tower to the desired height, scans an aisle and returns to its dock, all while avoiding obstacles.
Dexory’s approach of combining unique mapping technology together with intuitive localization and accurate obstacle detection has resulted in a truly automated inventory system.
This autonomy means it can seamlessly integrate into the chaotic environment of any warehouse, no matter it’s size or stock type.
