Live flies, roaches, rodent droppings, and food storage problems- popular Florida diner closes

Recently, one local favorite, Tick Tok Diner, hit a snag and had to shut its doors temporarily after a state inspection.

Tick Tok Diner is a well-loved spot near central Florida attractions, making it a popular hangout for both locals and tourists. Known for its shrimp and grits, catfish, and a robust brunch menu, the diner has racked up around 4k Google reviews, boasting a solid 4 out of 5 rating.

So, what went wrong? According to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, the diner faced a slew of issues during an inspection on July 15, 2024. The list of 27 violations ranged from basic to high-priority concerns. Among the basic violations were dead roaches, bathrooms that weren't properly enclosed, and a floor covered in debris. There were also issues with a soiled cutting board and a handwash sink that wasn’t accessible at all times.

The high-priority violations were more concerning. Inspectors found live flies and roaches, evidence of rodent activity, and cold foods stored at temperatures above the safe limit of 41 degrees. Given these issues, the diner had to shut down temporarily.

However, Tick Tok Diner didn’t stay down for long. After addressing the issues, it reopened its doors on July 18th. During a follow-up inspection, the diner had only three basic violations left, none of which posed an immediate threat to the public.

So, while Tick Tok Diner had a rough patch, it looks like it’s back on track and ready to serve up those beloved comfort dishes again. If you’re in the area, it might be worth a visit—just make sure to check the latest reviews before heading over!
