‘Twisters’ hunk Glen Powell is the ‘new Matthew McConaughey’ of movies: ‘The hair, the tan, the muscles’

Don’t get it twisted — it’s Glen Powell’s world and we’re all just living in it.

In fact, it’s shaping up to be a defining summer for the Hollywood hunk, with the release of his latest blockbuster “ Twisters ,” co-starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos.

For those who are chronically online, there’s been no shortage of content from movie’s premiere and promotion on social media feeds, as Powell, 35, steals the nation’s heart — along with his adorable rescue dog , Brisket.

“It’s a Glen Powell Summer because of the man, the myth, the legend that is Glen Powell,” Edgar-Jones, 26, gushed over her co-star in a recent interview with People .

“Brisket can’t take all the credit,” she added.

Enamored fans have been drooling over the 35-year-old heartthrob since his star turn in “Top Gun: Maverick” in 2022.

Since then, the Texas-born stud has become a household name.

Late last year, he took a lead role opposite Sydney Sweeney in “ Anyone But You ,” with viewers swooning over his on-screen charm and good looks.

“I’m on the radar for the first time in my whole life, and it’s weird,” Powell told The Hollywood Reporter , referring to his newfound superstar celebrity status following the rom-com smash.

“Twisters,” it seems, has only add fuel to the fire — and it certainly helps that he has a cute pooch and doting parents who secure cameos in all their son’s films.

“I came to see ‘Twisters’ for the plot,” wrote one TikTokker on a recent clip , showing herself in the movie theater.

The so-called “ plot ” in question? Powell.

“Instantly regretting taking my date to ‘Twisters,'” joked one annoyed boyfriend , as viewers quipped it’s the “power of Glen Powell.”

And, as if he couldn’t charm audiences more, he recently showed up on stage at Luke Bryan’s MetLife Stadium show with his “Twisters” co-stars to shotgun a beer.

“I get it now,” one TikTokker wrote of the Powell phenomenon.

“Put Glen Powell in the cast and I’ll watch just about anything,” quipped another smitten fan , calling him the “new Matthew McConaughey.”

Ironically, Powell has revealed that he actually phones McConaughey, 54, when he needs some mentorship, as both Texans have mirrored career paths, landing similar roles — albeit decades apart — in hilarious rom-coms and blood-pumping action flicks.

“Career-wise, things can be disorienting if you let them, and Matthew’s been such a great friend and source of wisdom for me,” Powell told People .

“He’s a guy I’ve looked up to my whole life, so to have Matthew as a guy I can call if I’m ever feeling disoriented or confused about anything that’s happening in my life, he’s already been on that ride.”

The “Hitman” heartthrob has also drummed up talk about being crowned the “next big movie star” in “ a post-movie-star era .”

“There’s been a lot of talk, and I’ve had to answer, ‘Is Glen a movie star?’” Richard Linklater, who directed Powell in the Netflix caper “Hit Man,” told The Washington Post .

“Anyone who’s worked with Glen in the past 10 years knows he’s a f—ing movie star. That’s not really a question. Does the culture even have a place for a new movie star is the bigger question.”

But it’s taken years of landing small gigs and hearing rejections for career-defining roles to get here. Becoming a movie star, “Scream Queens” director Ryan Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter , “was always Glen’s dream.”

And fellow Hollywood heartthrobs agree: Powell certainly has all the defining qualities of a movie star.

“If you look up the definition of a movie star, it’s Glen,” John Hamm, Powell’s “Top Gun: Maverick” co-star, told the outlet . “The smile, the hair, the tan, the muscles, and he wants it and he loves it and he’s good at it.”
