American Idol viewers are eager to see a beloved original judge return to the panel.
Following Katy Perry's departure from her judging role after season 22, rumors began to circulate about potential replacements. Meghan Trainor, Jelly Roll, Jon Bon Jovi and others were mentioned as possible successors, but no official announcement has been made.
In the middle of this uncertainty, one fan proposed on Reddit that popular judge Paula Abdul should reclaim her position. Paula is well-known for her time on the panel alongside Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson during seasons one to eight.

"I keep thinking one of the best choices to replace Katy is Paula Abdul. Paula has the nostalgia factor and she has guest judged on the ABC version-Why look no further [than] to bring Paula back? Would anyone love Paula in the judges seat again," they suggested.
The idea quickly gained traction among other fans in the comments section. "Yes. And here's why. Yeah she's got nostalgia, she's seasoned, she's a dancer, she's a pop singer, a sensation. The only negative is she never gave much of a critique. Simon did that for everyone. But if she could bring some critique and sass, sure," someone agreed.
"I liked Paula a lot, even if she's a little crazy at times. I would be cool with it," another fan concurred. "Good choice," added another. "Yessssssss please," a fourth chimed in enthusiastically.

However, not everyone was thrilled at the prospect. "It would be nauseating to watch," one user snarked. Others were less than complimentary about Paula, with some branding her "not relevant" and others criticizing her as "unintelligible" in her role as a judge.
The buzz around American Idol's judging panel has been intense, with fans also suggesting that another former judge, Jennifer Lopez, should come back to replace Katy Perry. "Watch for Jennifer Lopez's return," predicted a fan on Reddit. "She was great on American Idol. She gave actual practical advice," praised another.
But J-Lo poured cold water on those rumors during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in late May. "Not this year. Maybe next year," she playfully hinted.
