Ange Postecoglou laid down a challenge to Yves Bissouma after his fine goal in Tottenham's friendly win over QPR.

Spurs won 2-0 at Loftus Road on Saturday in their final warm-up game before they head for their preseason tour of Asia. They face Vissel Kobe in Tokyo on July 27.

Bissouma scored a superb opening goal against QPR as he combined with Dejan Kulusevski during an impressive run and finish. Rising star Dane Scarlett scored a late second for the Premier League side.

Postecoglou, however, is demanding more from Bissouma, who joined from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022 for a fee of £30 million ($32.1 million).

It was put to Postecoglou after the match that Bissouma's goal could give him real confidence in the build-up to the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Yet the Spurs boss was keen to see the midfielder continue to improve rather than dwell on an impressive individual moment.

"It is only a friendly," he said. "I want to see him do it in a [competitive] game. He's capable of it.

"That's our challenge for all our guys. We know the capabilities are there. We've got to produce it when it counts. He was good today, he's been good through preseason and we've just got to keep pushing him."

Spurs next meet Vissel Kobe in Tokyo before they play a best XI from South Korea's top flight on July 31.

They then face a double header against Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, in which they will come up against former star striker Harry Kane.

Spurs' first game of the new Premier League season is against promoted Leicester City on August 19.
